JMU Secures Playoff Spot by Beating Tech 40-12

November 12, 2017

With redemption on their mind, JMU held nothing back as they battled tech this weekend. As many of you know, JMU had a heart breaking loss to Tech in the last second during the regular season. This game was much different. From the very start, it was apparent the Dukes would not let the game be close. JMU started off strong scoring three tries and 17  points in the first 20 minutes, and would finish the first half at 22-0. Momentum was held through the second half as JMU had an outstanding defensive performance. Despite a few unfortunate yellow cards, the Dukes defense held, even at one point playing 13 men to their 15. The game finished with JMU on top with a 40-12 lead. This win secured JMU a spot in the D1 National Tournament.

For regionals, JMU will be travelling to Bowling Green Ohio this weekend, November 17th-19th. We ask for your support as we take on Bowling Green Saturday and then another game against either Tennessee or St. Joes on Sunday. We have launched a go fund me page (https://www.gofundme.com/jmu-mens-rugby-regionals-fund), and have a goal of raising $2,000. This will help pay for our transportation and lodging for our two night stay in  Ohio. Any donation would be greatly appreciated! If you would rather venmo, please send donations to @JMURugby. Thank you for all your support this season, we look forward to sending more updates about our tournament progress.
