JMU falls short to Tech

September 17, 2017

Although putting up a strong performance, JMU lost in the last seconds to a 7 point try 18 to 19 against Virginia Tech this friday. The dukes started strong in the first half by kicking for points early on but could not put anymore points on the board until the second half. However, Tech was able to score a try to end the half 3-7. JMU had a much better second half working the score up to 18-7 by scoring two tries and kicking for points. Tech scored with 10 minutes left bringing the game to 18-12. Then with less than a minute on the clock, Tech broke the line on a tap and go off a penalty, and scored as the clock hit 0. The entire field was quite as the kicker lined up to make the extra 2 points. After the disappointing result, JMU now knows every game is sink or swim for their season and that every single point matters.

JV kept their winning record alive with a 14-0 shut out over VT’s B-side. Both scores occurred in the first half. Madison side pulled an impressive 60-0 shut out against George Mason’s first side.

This is  a reminder that there is no game next week, so do not expect a game update!
