Strong JMU Performance in Conference Opener

September 10, 2017

With live music blaring in the background, JMU set out for its redemption match against UVA at their infamous Madbowl. The game once again went scoreless for the beginning part of the first half. UVA scored first with one of their two penalty kicks, both from about 40 meters out. However, JMU would retaliate with one try in the first half. To end the half, UVA put in a try to bring the score to 5-13 with UVA in the lead. After halftime, JMU had to fight themselves out of the hole they dug the first half. With new found fire, JMU scored a quick try, bringing the score to 12-13, and managed to keep the play on UVA’s side of the field for the majority of the game. As the clock ran down, JMU found their second wind putting two tries in with 10 minutes left in the game. The final score ended up being 22-13 with the dukes on top!

Additionally The JV team was able to blow UVA out 38-7 with good heart and skills on display. The Madison side unfortunately fell to VCU by a try, 27-32. The Varsity and JV team hope to take their momentum to roll over Tech this Friday.
